About
A sanctuary, not another app.
Manifesto
You were never a problem to solve.
Back to Self is a slow return — to the body, to breath, to the quiet person underneath the noise. Not a course to finish. Not a streak to keep. A small sanctuary you can walk into when you want to, and walk out of when you don't.
Move. Breathe. Reflect. Connect. Grow. Five gentle practices, offered in the order that feels right, at the pace you set.
What this is
An educational wellbeing companion. A slow 14-day journey, a practice library, a private journal, and a few honest labels about what the research says.
What this is not
Not therapy. Not medical advice. Not a diagnosis. Not a place to manage a mental-health crisis alone. If you're in one, please reach a person — the Safety page has quick starting points.
Honesty
How our evidence labels work.
Every practice carries one of four labels. They tell you what kind of ground it stands on — no more, no less.
Evidence informed
Backed by peer-reviewed studies with reasonable consensus. Effects are usually modest — this is education, not a cure.
Emerging research
Promising, early findings. Worth trying with an open mind, worth not overstating.
Traditional practice
From lineages such as yoga, meditation and contemplative traditions. Old, tested by many hands — not a substitute for medical care.
Founder reflection
A personal invitation from the founder. Offered honestly as one person's practice — take what serves.
Who made this
Built by one person, in the open.
Back to Self is being made by its founder — a longtime practitioner working with a small circle of teachers, therapists and beta testers. Final founder note and photograph will land here before public release.
Tradition & attribution
With respect for the lineages.
Many of the practices offered here — mantra, breath, the chakra map, moving from the elements — come from Kundalini Yoga and older yogic and tantric lineages. They're offered here in a plain, modern voice for a beginner audience. Full lineage acknowledgements and reading list will be added before public release.
A note on two words
iSight and eye comfort — not the same thing.
iSight is a structured reflection method — See, Inquire, Hold, Transform — offered on Day 11 as a Mind Shift. It is not EMDR, not trauma reprocessing, not treatment. It is credited here, not explained mid-practice.
Eye comfort practices are separate: blinking, distance viewing, gentle focus changes and palming. They may support visual comfort. They will not reverse refractive error or treat eye disease. Sudden visual change or pain needs urgent professional assessment.
